Terms of service

These terms govern your use of filencrypt.com and the Filencrypt encrypted storage and sharing service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
Using Filencrypt
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. You are responsible for accurate account information, activity under your account, and keeping credentials and recovery information secure. You may use the service only in accordance with these terms and applicable law.
Encryption and password recovery
Filencrypt encrypts files in your browser and stores ciphertext. You control the credentials needed to decrypt vault files and password-protected shares. Filencrypt cannot recover a lost vault key, vault password or file-share password. Keep an independent copy of important files; Filencrypt is not a backup guarantee.
Your content
You retain your rights in content you upload. You give Filencrypt the limited permission needed to host, transmit and delete its encrypted form and associated service metadata. You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to store and share that content.
Acceptable use
Do not use Filencrypt to break the law, harm others, distribute malware, infringe rights, evade security controls, probe or overload the service, gain unauthorised access, or store or share content you are not legally permitted to possess. We may limit or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the service or comply with law.
Plans, storage and billing
Plan features, storage limits, currencies and current prices are shown on the pricing page before checkout. Paid plans renew monthly through Stripe until cancelled. Taxes may apply. If storage exceeds a plan limit, uploads may be blocked until you delete files or change plan. We may change future prices or plan features with reasonable notice; changes do not retroactively alter an already-paid billing period.
Plan changes, cancellation and refunds
Use the Manage plan link to change payment details, switch plans or cancel. A normal cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Proration for a plan change is calculated by Stripe and shown during the change. Deleting your Filencrypt account permanently removes active account data and ends the subscription immediately. Fees already charged are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly agreed by support, so cancel through the billing portal before deleting if you need service through the end of the paid period.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Filencrypt secure and available, but maintenance, provider failures, internet conditions and security incidents may interrupt it. We may modify or discontinue features. Where practical, we will give notice of a material change that significantly reduces a paid service.
Termination
You may stop using Filencrypt or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach, security risk, unlawful use, non-payment, or where required by law. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Filencrypt is provided as available without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every purpose. Filencrypt is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss caused by credentials you lose or disclose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Applicable law and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the operator of Filencrypt and to you, including any mandatory consumer protections in your location. Disputes should first be raised with support so we can try to resolve them. We may update these terms as the service or law changes; material updates will be posted here with a revised effective date.
